Position Overview

QinetiQ is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial operations of our company. The CFO will play a critical role in shaping the financial direction of the company, ensuring compliance with government regulations, managing risk, and supporting sustainable growth. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in federal contracting, DCAA compliance, and strategic financial leadership.

Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team.

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis to support long-term growth objectives.

  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and support strategic decision-making.

Government Contracting Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements.

  • Oversee preparation of indirect rate structures and support incurred cost submissions.

  • Lead audits, pricing strategies, and financial reporting specific to government contracts (e.g., CPFF, FFP, T&M).

Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Manage all aspects of accounting, finance, treasury, and payroll.

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and applicable government standards.

  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.

Risk Management & Controls

  • Establish and maintain internal controls, risk management, and financial policies and procedures.

  • Evaluate and manage insurance programs and business risk.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).

  • CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred.

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive finance leadership experience, with at least 10 in a senior financial role within a government contracting environment.

  • Deep knowledge of FAR, CAS, DCAA audit requirements, and government contract types.

  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, or similar ERP systems used in government contracting.

  • Proven ability to manage cash flow, indirect rates, and multi-entity corporate structures.

  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills.
