Position Overview

QinetiQ US is looking for a Senior GL Accountant to join the Finance team. 

 

The Senior GL Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and supporting compliance with GAAP, FAR, and DCAA requirements. This role is critical in managing month-end close processes, account reconciliations, audit support, and continuous improvement of accounting systems and procedures in a federal contracting environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including revenue recognition, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and fixed assets.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including indirect rate calculations and incurred cost submissions (ICE).
  • Support DCAA audits and respond to audit inquiries with appropriate documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and disclosures.
  • Review project/job cost reports for accuracy; coordinate with project managers and contracts team to ensure proper revenue and cost allocations.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing schedules, documentation, and responding to inquiries.
  • Work with the accounting team to improve and implement processes, policies, and internal controls.
  • Serve as backup for AP, AR, payroll, and timekeeping functions when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • 8+ years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a government contracting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, FAR, and CAS.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP system preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality and data integrity.
