Position Overview

Join us in our fast-paced support to the Space Development Agency (SDA). Recognized as the Department of Defense's constructive disruptor for space acquisition, SDA delivers space-based capabilities to the joint warfighter to support terrestrial missions through development, fielding, and operation of the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture. SDA capitalizes on a unique business model that values speed and lowers costs by harnessing commercial development to achieve a proliferated architecture and enhance resilience. We are seeking an experienced Policy Analyst to support SDA’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, assess and report the Congressional climate related to SDA acquisitions and programs of interest.
  • Provide support in drafting, editing and reviewing SDA responses to congressional requests for information, briefings and hearings and draft, track, and manage DoD/legislative affairs reporting requirements.
  • Provide analysis and evaluation of congressional legislation and report language to include the annual Defense Authorization and Appropriations Acts and any relevant legislation or provision or funding initiatives that affect SDA equities and acquisition programs.
  • Support the legislative process and provide input to and review of draft testimony, appeals and impact statements.
  • Prepare DoD and/or SDA summaries of member and committee actions and technology interest items and serve as a key liaison with congressional staff and members with a key focus on Space Policy, Acquisition and use of commercial technologies or services.
  • Provide expert input into strategy and plan with regard to commercial engagement to expand SDA’s visibility and reach into industry and enhance opportunity for DoD use of commercial capabilities and technologies and assist with implementing the strategies and plans.

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years relevant experience
  • Undergraduate or advanced degree required
  • TS/SCI Clearance required; #qinetiqclearedjob
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, oral presentation, and executive writing skills
  • Documented experience conducting independent qualitative and quantitative research and planning researching and producing high-quality written work
  • Experience and desire to thrive in a fast-paced work environment; highly organized; ability to work independently and meet deadlines reliably
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate, coordinate, and implement Service-level space-related policies and programs that support national security objectives and policies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Defense Space and National Security Space in the areas of strategy, requirements, capabilities, architectures, programs, acquisition, and operations
