Position Overview

QinetiQ is seeking a highly motivated Sustainment Engineer to lead our Sustainment Integrated Product Team (IPT) in support of a Federal Government contract focused on a cutting-edge Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform. The Sustainment Engineer will lead the Product Support team and develop the overall product support strategy for globally deployed ISR systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of ISR platforms and associated subsystems (hardware and software).
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve system anomalies across communications, sensors, data links, and mission processing equipment.
  • Coordinate with logistics, engineering, and program management teams to ensure availability and readiness of ISR systems.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including system maintenance plans, status reports, engineering change proposals, and failure analysis.
  • Track and manage field issues, corrective actions, and performance metrics.
  • Participate in system upgrades, patching, and integration activities, ensuring minimal downtime and mission impact.
  • Interface directly with end-users, government stakeholders, and support contractors to address sustainment issues in real time.
  • Support fielding, testing, and evaluation of system modifications and enhancements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative maintenance procedures to mitigate future issues.
  • Develop and analyze system Reliability, Maintainability and Availability (RMA) Metrics
  • Analyze RMA metrics to determine sparing postures and cliff dates
  • Lead DMSMS analysis efforts

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in system sustainment, maintenance engineering, or field support, preferably on DoD ISR or C5ISR systems.
  • Understanding of electronics, RF systems, networking, and mission system architecture.
  • Experience with sustainment processes in government or defense programs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of product support metrics and analysis; experience with DMSMS management
  • Knowledge of Failure Mode Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and Failure Reporting Analysis & Corrective Action System (FRACAS) ​
  • Experience with root cause and corrective analysis​ (RCCA) processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting airborne ISR platforms and payloads (manned or unmanned).
  • Familiarity with DoD logistics and maintenance systems (e.g., ILS, CMMS).
  • Prior experience supporting deployed operations or OCONUS missions.
  • Ability to obtain or currently hold a US Government Secret clearance.
