Position Overview

The Principal Contracts Administrator will act as a key department Team Member and contributor to include supervision, mentorship, and training of Contracts Department team members to fulfill operational requirements and assure compliance with pertinent regulations, policy, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Review contractual documents and proposals to ensure adherence to company policies, government specifications, requirements, and master agreements. Advise on contractual rights and obligations, including contract interpretation for both prime and subcontractors.
  • Lead contract execution, anticipating and resolving problems while ensuring effective inter-group communication. Serve as a business advisor to Program Management on proposal development, contract negotiation, administration, and teaming activities for new business opportunities.
  • Guide customer discussions and negotiations, demonstrating strong relationship management in complex contract environments. Work closely with legal, functional counterparts, senior leadership, and internal teams to reinforce successful contract performance and resolution of compliance issues.
  • Develop, maintain, improve, and ensure compliance with procedures and policies in accordance with law, regulation, and industry best practices.
  • Advise and assist in preparing and reviewing all aspects of contract proposals and changes. Provide leadership and guidance on daily assignments and team task prioritization.
  • Analyze issues, assess risks, develop solutions, and ensure contract performance aligns with business objectives. Present options to management to support new and existing business.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and commercial procurement practices. Exercise sound independent judgment and advanced analytical skills to interpret complex data and solve problems.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a proven business enabler and dealmaker.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years of experience managing large, complex US government contracts, including all contract types (FFP, T&M, CP).
  • Experience negotiating terms and conditions for services and materials, interfacing with program staff, functional support staff (particularly close collaboration with project controllers), and senior leadership.
  • Meaningful experience managing Foreign Military Sales contracts and Direct Commercial Sales to international customers.
  • Experience working closely with Trade Controls professionals in administering requirements under the ITAR and EAR.
  • Keen and persistent attention to detail, with superior written and oral communication skills. Highly organized with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, resolve complex issues, develop negotiation strategies, and provide creative solutions.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard office applications.
  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities, meet deadlines with minimal supervision, and influence internal and external business partners/customers.
