Position Overview

Join us as a Security Lead to oversee the security of a $100M+ DoD data platform implementation in a Top-Secret environment. You’ll develop and implement security strategies, ensure compliance with DoD regulations, and manage incident response plans. Lead a team of security professionals and collaborate with other teams to integrate security into all project aspects. Your expertise in cybersecurity and information assurance will be crucial in protecting sensitive data and maintaining operational integrity

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Security Lead to oversee all security aspects of a $200M Department of Defense (DoD) data platform implementation within a Top-Secret environment. The Security Lead will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing security protocols and procedures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with DoD security standards. This role requires extensive experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, and managing security operations in classified environments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive security strategy that ensures the protection of the DoD data platform and its associated infrastructure.
  • Lead the planning and execution of security measures to protect data, networks, and systems from potential threats.
  • Oversee the accreditation process to ensure the platform meets all necessary requirements for obtaining an Authority to Operate (ATO) on SIPRNet and JWICS networks.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD security regulations, policies, and standards, including the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and other relevant guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain incident response plans, ensuring that the team is prepared to respond to security breaches or incidents effectively and efficiently.
  • Lead the investigation and remediation of any security incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Lead and mentor a team of security professionals, providing guidance on best practices and ensuring the team is equipped to handle the security needs of the project.
  • Collaborate with other teams, including data, cloud, and integration teams, to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of the project.
  • Manage day-to-day security operations, including monitoring, threat detection, and vulnerability management.
  • Implement and maintain security tools and technologies to protect the platform and ensure the integrity of data and systems.
  • Identify and assess security risks associated with the data platform and its environment, developing strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities and ensure continuous improvement of security practices.
  • Engage with DoD stakeholders, providing regular updates on security posture, potential risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for security-related matters, ensuring clear communication and alignment with DoD security objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity or information assurance, with a focus on large-scale projects in secure, classified environments.
  • Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is mandatory.
  • Extensive knowledge of DoD security standards, including RMF, NIST guidelines, and DISA STIGs.
  • Proven experience in leading security teams and managing security operations in Top Secret environments.
  • Strong understanding of security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), encryption, and security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
  • Experience with security operations in DoD environments, particularly with SIPRNet and JWICS networks.
  • Familiarity with cloud security principles and technologies, particularly within classified environments.
  • Experience with security tools and technologies specific to DoD environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex security challenges in a high-stakes environment.
