Position Overview

QinetiQ US is seeking an experienced Access Control/Security Guard to join our growing team! The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of government property and surveillance of situations as they arise.  This supports the DHS Customs & Border Protection Tethered Aerostat Radar System (TARS) program. The TARS program leverages aerostat systems to provide persistent surveillance and detection capabilities, to the U.S. Government customer across eight (8) different operational sites along the US Southern border in multiple locations including Puerto Rico, Florida, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.

 

Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned areas to deter unauthorized entry, protect government property, and perform entry controller duties
  • Exercise judgment and uses discretion in dealing with emergencies and security violations encountered
  • Determine whether first response should be to intervene directly, to keep situation under surveillance, or to report situation so that it can be handled by appropriate authority
  • Participate in basic aerostat operations, including (but not necessarily limited to) launch to flight altitude, recovery from flight altitude, aerostat snubbing, snow removal, inflations, and deflations
  • Use personal computer, printer, and other general office equipment
  • Drive company vehicles observing all operational and safety policies and procedures, as well applicable state mandate regulations, including proper permits and license requirements
  • Perform activities in exterior and interior work environments, sometimes in inclement weather
  • This is an unarmed position.

Secondary Duties include:

  • Winch Operator / Close Haul Line Handler / T&C Operator
  • Maintain and understand site documentation such as parts request forms, equipment condition tags, timecards, and flight data and maintenance logs.
  • Supports all security, logistics, and site-specific requirements as directed when not in conflict with primary responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizenship; must have the ability to obtain and maintain a position of Public Trust security clearance 
  • Pass any required background and/or drug screening 
  • High School Diploma or GED and 1 year experience
  • A valid US Driver’s License
  • Fluently read, write, speak and understand English
  • Ability  to perform shift work 
  • Work requires the ability to perform the following physical activies: walking, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, crawling, reaching, lifting, sitting, and squatting. Work may require walking, standing, sitting, and working in confined spaces or at high elevations for extended periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A demonstrated track record of being efficient on personal computers, printers and other general office equipment
  • You love working in exterior and interior work environments, sometimes in inclement weather
